It’s so easy to get whisked away in the hubbub of friends, work and busyness, but we need to take the time to be still and become aware of ourselves. The small things. The fact that we’re still breathing. Our ability to move. The presence of love around and in us. Our strengths. Our opportunities. Our journeys.
— Grace Gealey

About this retreat

In our busy lives, especially in the final weeks of of a year, where we are focused on finishing our work projects, supporting our clients and preparing for the coming of Christmas and a new year, it can feel like a struggle to find the space to breathe.

So, we are pleased to offer you our annual retreat – ‘Coming into Presence’ — for professional helpers. You could think of this as a catalyst to substantially deepen your presence within your work and life and your practice of self-care.

Most importantly we believe these 2 days will help you ‘be the change’ that we encourage leaders to create in this VUCA world.

This retreat takes place from 8-10 November 2019, in the middle of winter. So this will also symbolically offer us an opportunity to take an important pause; a time for personal contemplation with our body, heart and mind; a chance to go within and dwell in some silent introspection.

Our intention is to deepen your mindfulness practice considerably; and cultivate personal wellbeing and capacity to create change in others. At this point in the year, the retreat will also develop your tolerance to face any potential events or challenges in the months ahead.

This retreat, led over 2 and a half days, is offered to you as an opportunity to "wake up" out of automatic habits and reactivity and move into a more conscious way of being; to savour the present moment and enjoy your life and work more. It encourages you to reset your inner speed limit to ensure this is sustainable, and take some focused time to resource yourself in the company of like-minded professionals.

Our blind spot, from a person or people point of view, keeps us from seeing that we do indeed have greatly enhanced direct access to the deeper sources of creativity and commitment, both as individuals and as communities. It is one of our most hopeful sources of confidence because we can access a deeper presence, power, and purpose from within.
— C. Otto Scharmer

Our days together will provide you with an immersion experience, working with and building on mindfulness practices from our Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme and we will include a day of silence.

The retreat takes place at Bore Place near Sevenoaks in Kent.  This is a peaceful and inspiring organic farm and retreat centre, within easy reach of London (30 minutes by train).  We will spend our time in the beautiful and relaxing Tudor manor house and grounds. The food is amazing – you will eat well and sleep well!

Keep close to Nature’s heart... and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.
— John Muir
