Internal Coach Training

“Coaching is unlocking people’s potential to maximize their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them.”

— John Whitmore

We offer a comprehensive range of internal coach training and ongoing development opportunities. Just follow the links below for more information on the services we provide:

(We also provide coach supervision services — please see our supervision for organisations page for more details).

Accredited coach training

Our EMCC or ILM Accredited Coach Training programmes can be run in-house, which enables your coaches to learn together and form their own community. The programmes can be tailored to your organisation’s needs whilst still maintaining the rigour a professional coaching qualification requires.

Since lockdown, we have utilised our experience and reputation in delivering highly effective online experiential learning programmes. Due to the advances in technology, and our belief that coaches need to be effective at working online, our courses and events have always made extensive use of virtual learning environments (so coaches can practice working online whilst receiving feedback from our team).

This means that we can offer our organisational clients online courses, which offer:

  • The same accreditation
  • The same experiential training
  • The same high-quality learning experience
  • The same exceptional support whilst your coaches train with us.

Or trainee internal coaches can also join our open coaching programmes. These are accredited with EMCC Global and range from foundation programmes through to an advanced level training. This gives them the opportunity to broaden their networks and learn with a variety of participants, and can be the preferred route for organisations who wish train a small number of coaches at any one time.

Whichever route is right for your organisation, our programmes will equip your internal coaches with the skills and confidence to deliver the changes you are seeking to achieve through coaching.

We are, at heart, pragmatists and our programmes are designed to explore common challenges people bring to coaching. We combine core coaching theory, underpinned by psychological concepts and tools with application grounded in the reality of what our coachees often present in the workplace.

We also believe in developing coaches who can work flexibly using a combination of face-to-face, online and telephone coaching methods, all of which will be experienced in our programmes.

Specialist coach training programmes

“I never cease to be amazed at the power of the coaching process to draw out the skills or talent that was previously hidden within an individual, and which invariably finds a way to solve a problem previously thought unsolvable.”

— John Russell

Often coaching skills are combined with specialist expertise for a particular need within an organisation.  For example:

  • Role transition
  • Supporting large scale organisational change programmes
  • Pitch coaches
  • Maternity/paternity coaches.

We can partner with your organisation and your experts to enhance their coaching skills to deliver support through a coaching led approach to sharing their expertise and guidance.

We also can bring in experts from our networks to work with us to develop coaches in specialist areas, for example, impact and gravitas coaching.

Specialist coach training

“The workshop was brilliantly facilitated by the course leaders. They delivered the training in a flexible way that responded to our needs and skills. They created a safe environment for us to learn, and be honest and vulnerable in our coaching practice, which helped us really experience coaching, rather than some sort of half-hearted role play. They were vulnerable themselves in the way they demonstrated techniques, giving us real insight to the challenges and realities of coaching.”

Ongoing development

To enable your internal coaches to continue to be confident, competent and able to provide the support you seek, most organisations have in place some form of ongoing CPD programme in addition to Supervision.

This can be run in-house, often by the coaching leader or others in the L&D Community, or organisations can seek the expertise from outside.

At Catalyst 14 we provide a wide range of options for ongoing CPD including webinars, short workshops and CPD days, all designed and facilitated for the needs of your coaches.

We can partner with you to see what CPD would be most appropriate for the level of coaching your coaches are undertaking, and to ensure that where there is relevant CPD already available within your organization, this is recognised and utilised as part of the CPD programme.

Recent examples of topics included in CPD activities are:

  • Team coaching
  • Chemistry sessions and contracting
  • Systemic coaching and constellations
  • Coaching the Impostor Syndrome
  • Career coaching techniques and models
  • Practical techniques for exploring values and beliefs
  • Coaching for change
  • Three-way contracting conversations with organizational sponsor.

We also run an annual CPD event, which your internal coaches can attend.

To have a conversation about the CPD for your internal coaches, just get in touch today.

“The content of every session was fabulous. The break out discussions were nourishing and helped support learning. Also great to network. I thought a full day on zoom maybe too much but the whole day was so rich and inspiring it flew by. I felt privileged to be part of this wonderful community.”

— CPD participant

“The event was beautifully organised, with an elegant balance of ideas, techniques, interaction, networking and space.”

Our internal coach community

Internal Coaches who have trained with us will be invited to join our newly forming internal coach community, to be launched towards the end of 2020.

Our intent is to provide a space for internal coaches, across organisations, to meet, share ideas and form networks for on-going learning.

If you are interested in your internal coaches joining this network, please get in touch today.

“The sessions were very interesting with valuable information! It was also great to meet new people.”
